Muizenberg is Africa's oldest surfing town. Home to one of the worlds' best learn-to-surf beaches and the warmest waters on the Cape Town coastline. Muizenberg is a must visit holiday destination while in Cape Town. The recently updated beachfront has an abundance of shops, cafes and eateries. Muizenberg is known locally as an arty/muso village so live music and creativity are round every corner. Visitors can enjoy the long sandy beach in one direction or a coastal walk from Muizenberg to Kalk Bay that includes the historical mile in the other. This part of the walk features some wonderful historical buildings including the SA Police Museum, Casa Labia, Rhodes Cottage and Het Posthuys which dates back to 1742 and is one of the oldest buildings in South Africa.
A little further along, St James and then Kalk Bay which won the 'Coolest Community in The World' title thanks to Forbes Magazine and is a firm favorite for locals and visitors alike. The harbor is active and home to the cape fur seals, laying about and waiting for some scraps from the local fishermen. In Kalk Bay you will find an eclectic mix of arty shops, an abundance of eateries and cafes, live music along the streets and cocktail bars bursting with charm.
When back in Muizenberg, there are incredible restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife with Tigers Milk, Striped Horse, The Commons and so many more, all just a short walk from the Guesthouse.
Live music is regularly hosted at the Striped Horse, with it's in-house striped horse craft beers proving very popular. Take a walk to the beach through the old part of town (Palmer Road) an interesting collection shops and coffee shops where locals show off their crafts and trade. The Blue Bird Garage Market is also a hot favorite for a Thursday and Friday night. This is where all the locals congregate after a long week of work and surf. This is on the same block as the Guesthouse so a regular convergence of guests.

Along the beach facing south is the Muizenberg Cat Walk. Follow this for half an hour or so. There are a host of little man-made tidal pools along the walk if you fancy a refreshing dip and to top it all off you will find the St James beach boxes framing this picture perfect spot complete with beach and tidal pool, perfect for the whole family.

Boulders beach was made famous because it is one of the very few areas to be inhabited by the one and only penguin species in Africa, the Jackass Penguin. Colonies can be found from southern Namibia all the way around the South African coast to Port Elizabeth, but few places offer as remarkable a viewing point as Boulders Beach.
The ancient granite boulders protect it from the wind and large waves, making it an ideal swimming spot for kids. The beach is always clean and safe, because it falls under the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area.
The famous surfers’ corner is a mecca for surfing worldwide and many use this name rather than Muizenberg beach simply because it is where surfing has spun its own yarn for centuries. The lists of surfing schools is impressive and each has its own gripping story to tell. There is a vibe here, a pull that only serves to highlights the surfing lifestyle much admired today. You can also book a lesson or two in any of the many well respected surfing shops and schools found right here on the beachfront. It is the soft dependable waves and vibrant surfing community here that draws many visitors back time and time again.
If you are looking for a fun activity to entertain the family, then this putt putt does not disappoint. With a choice of two courses, it is an hour-or-so well spent. There is a mixture of holes that caters for all levels. Set close to the beach, there is always a good vibe in the area. The sun can get a bit hot and often it can get windy in Muizenberg, but this does not detract form everyone having a good time.
The famous Muizenberg Water Slides are a trio of water slides – right on Muizenberg Beach!
These solar heated slides keep the temperature just right for maximum fun while shaded seating with tables available allow friends and family to join with a a picnic. There is also a tuckshop available on the premises so you can buy refreshments, chips and sweets as well as hotdogs and hot drinks.
